Split PDF online free

Separate a PDF into multiple files or extract just the pages you need.

[ Reserved ad space ]
Use comma and dash. E.g. 1-3, 5, 8-10

Split modes — which to pick

  • Extract range — pick exactly which pages you want (e.g. 1-3, 5, 7-9). Result: one PDF with just those pages.
  • Each page as 1 PDF — separates every page into individual files. Result: a .zip with one file per page.
  • Every N pages — splits the PDF into fixed-size blocks (e.g. every 5 pages becomes a separate PDF). Useful for chapter-by-chapter delivery or batch processing.

How the page-range syntax works

Use commas for individual pages and dashes for ranges. A few examples:

  • 1-5 — pages 1 through 5
  • 1, 3, 5 — pages 1, 3 and 5 only
  • 1-3, 7, 9-12 — mixed: a range, a single page, another range

Spaces are ignored, and the order you type doesn't matter — the output keeps the original page order.

Common reasons to split a PDF

  • Send only one chapter or one chart from a long report
  • Remove a few pages you don't want to share, like personal notes or signatures
  • Break a 200-page document into smaller files that fit email attachment limits
  • Split a scanned batch (receipts, invoices) into one PDF per document

Is it private?

Yes. The split happens in your browser using pdf-lib. The original PDF and the new files never reach a server.

FAQ

What is the max file size? 100 MB. The "each page" mode on very long PDFs takes longer because it has to write many separate files.

Do the split PDFs lose quality? No — pages are copied as-is, no re-rendering.

Can I split a password-protected PDF? No. Remove the password first, then split.

Will the output keep selectable text? Yes — text, fonts and images are preserved exactly.
